How to organise notes by project and find them again

Taking notes is easy; finding them again is the real challenge. With a few simple rules your notes stop being a messy pile.

One note = one topic

Avoid catch-all notes. Better many short, focused notes, each on one thing, than an endless note where you find nothing.

Titles you can find

The title is the search key: write "Rossi kitchen quote", not "Notes". In a month you'll thank yourself.

Group by project

Keep notes for the same project or client together, so when you pick it up again everything's at hand. A simple structure beats a complex one you don't keep up.

Sync

Notes are needed where you are: having them synced between phone and computer means never saying "it's on my other device".

Frequently asked questions

How do I organise notes so I don't lose them?

One note per topic, clear searchable titles, and grouping by project or client.

Better one long note or many short ones?

Many short, focused notes: far easier to find than one huge note.

Why sync notes?

To have them on every device and never hunt for the right one on the other phone or computer.
